Cash gifts to be given to graduating ES and SHS honor students in Pasig

Good news! Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto approve and signed a resolution granting all graduating Elementary School and Senior High School students with honor to receive cash gifts on February 12, 2020.

“#justsigned. Resolution approving cash gifts for our public ES and HS students graduating with Honors!” Mayor Vico Sotto said on his Facebook post.

As of the time of my writing, the post has more than 40K reactions and receives positive responses/comments from the netizens.

This kind of initiative will encourage students to persevere further and aim high in their studies.

The city government will give P500 to elementary school students graduating with “honors,” P1,000 with “high honors” and P1,500 with “highest honors.”

For senior high school students graduating “with honors” will be given a P1,000 cash gift, P2,000 for those with “high honors” and P3,000 with “highest honors.”

“I hope these incentives will also motivate the next batches to study harder,” Sotto said. “Hindi po ito pondo ng pulitiko, pondo ito ng taong bayan,” he added, encouraging the graduates to give back to the local community.

Meanwhile, some from private schools ask that they shall be included for the cash rewards that was intended only for graduating public school honor students.
