100 college students from Zamboanga are set to benefit from a special youth employment program https://www.dole.gov.ph/news/100-studes-in-zambo-sur-benefit-from-youth-employment-program/ of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
The project, entitled the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES), aims to make available temporary job opportunities for qualified less fortunate
learners, out-of-school youth, as well as the dependents of displaced workers.
According to DOLE Regional Director Atty. Roy L. Buenafe, each student would receive P503 per day for 20 days of rendered work. They will be assigned to different offices. 60 percent of their salaries will be provided by the provincial government while 40 percent would be care of DOLE Region IX.
Amid the current health crisis and with community quarantines in place, Buenafe noted that learners who are below 21 years old and are immunocompromised would be barred from the program for their health and safety. Employers are also tasked to implement a flexible working arrangement that would not require the students to travel or be out of their homes for a long period of time.
