Honeylet Avanceña and Kitty Duterte, partner and daughter of former President Rodrigo Duterte, visited the International Criminal Court (ICC) detention center in The Hague on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, in an unsuccessful attempt to see the former president.
They arrived in the Netherlands ahead of Duterte’s birthday on March 28. Despite reaching the reception area of the detention center, they were unable to gain access to the former president and left at approximately 1:55 p.m. local time (9:00 p.m. Manila time).
Duterte remains in ICC custody on charges of crimes against humanity related to his controversial drug war. Vice President Sara Duterte has been managing her father’s legal affairs since his arrest on March 11.
Meanwhile, Representative Paolo Duterte has secured travel clearance to 16 countries, including the Netherlands, from March 20 to May 10.
