INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON INDIGENOUS LANGUAGES
The Benguet State University and the Saint Louis University will conduct the International Conference on Indigenous Languages with the theme, Indigenous Languages: Matter for Development, Peace Building and Reconciliation, from December 5 to 7, 2019 at the Francis Gevers Hall, Saint Louis University, Baguio City. This is in celebration of the International Year of Indigenous Languages 2019 with the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as the lead entity.
The conference aims to
1. preserve and promote the local languages, material culture, and the core and principles of localized and indigenized language curriculum and its contribution to overall instructional quality;
2. localize and indigenize researches according to particularities of the language and culture of the indigenous communities; and
3. promote local languages through research, innovations and as language of instruction or as an academic subject.
The target participants are officials and employees from the Commission on Higher Education, language communities, local government, Department of Education, NCIP, public and private education institutions, civil society groups and nongovernment organizations.
Participation of public and private schools shall be subject to the nodisruption-of-classes policy stipulated in DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2005 titled Instituting Measures to Increase Engaged Time-on-Task and Ensuring Compliance Therewith.
