Lacson Vows to Review Free Tertiary Education Act if Elected

Former Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson has promised to review the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, also known as the Free Tertiary Education Act, if he is elected to the Senate.

Lacson said that he has received complaints from students who are having difficulty meeting the requirements to avail of free tertiary education. He believes that the requirements may be too complicated and need to be simplified.

The Free Tertiary Education Act provides free education to Filipino students in public schools, but they must meet certain requirements, such as passing the entrance examination and having no existing bachelor’s degree.

Lacson wants to make sure that the law is implemented fairly and that students who are truly in need of financial assistance are the ones who benefit from it. He also wants to prevent abuse of the system, where some people may use their connections to politicians to get free education.

The government has promised to continue supporting free tertiary education, with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. saying that education is the government’s highest priority.
