Department of Education Secretary Briones announced Tuesday, May 5, 2020, the opening of classes for School Year 2020-2021 will be on August 24 this year.
Students can either go to class physically or via online due to enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) and general community quarantine (GCQ) in different parts of the country.
Meanwhile, Briones said that the school year will end on April 30, 2021.

Inanunsyo na ni Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones na magbubukas ang SY 2020-2021 sa ika-24 ng Agosto ngayong taon.
Kabilang din sa kanyang mga nabanggit ang sumusunod:
1. Ang mga Public School Teaching and Non-Teaching Personnel ay magrereport na either online or physically simula June 1, 2020
2. Ihinahanda na ang self-learning kits at printed materials para sa mga estudyanteng walang internet access
3. Patuloy ang pagpapalawig ng DepEd Commons bilang online learning Platform
4. Suspendido pa din ang mga activities sa kabila ng pagbubukas ng klase
5. Mahalaga ang papel ng mga magulang at guardians sa pag-aaral, lalo na sa pag-iingat laban sa cyber bullying.
Patuloy po ang puspusang paghahanda natin upang mapanatili ang kaligtasan ng lahat sa pagbubukas ng klase.

Ang sa akin hindi lang ang mga estudyante ang nanganganib pati mga guro.walang pinipiling edad ang covid pagtinatamaan talagang mapanganib.so agree ako na wala munang pasok sa taon na ito ngunit ang dep ed parin ang masusunod kung talagang ipursue ang klase sa taong ito.

In my opinion we should skip the school year 2020-2021 to make sure our student is safe and protected unless our country declare covid free we then resume our classes.

Skip if not Covid free. Haste makes waste.If the situation is still threatening, going back to school may it be online,modular,blended,physical is not advisable. Magtraining na lang muna mga teachers. Also consider the readiness of school related matters like: school itself and its materials,the safety of pupils who will take the physical setting, the ,teacher and his!/her well equipped knowledge and trainings about online class, parents as partners especially on the online class, and the students who dont have the internet access, don’t have parents or guardians or don’t have parents or guardians who care about education and would get the module or help continue the lessons at home. We can’t deny the fact that only few parents and guardians care about the education of their children.PTC attendance can tell. Marami ang magiging kawawa pagnagkataon, which results to numbers of drop outs or no longer in school. Pag hindi pare pareho set ups ibibigay natin sa bata, other children will be deprived from quality and equality of education, sana additional na lang ang kung ano man ang magiging pagkakaibang set up sa kanila. Ito po ay sa aking saloobin lamang. Just expressing.
Skip this year of this covid will not end.. think for the welfare of everybody. Tska pag naghome study there is no guarantee na yung mga student mag aaral talaga. Kaya kung hanggang sa august may mga positive pa talaga sa covid better skip this school year.

Ipagpaliban na lang po natin ang pasukan ngayong taon na ito. Hangga’t walang bakuna sa sakit na Covid19, dapat ay wag muna papasukin ang mga bata. Kung ikaw ay isang magulang gugustuhin mo bang makahalo ang anak mo sa mga tao na walang assurance sa safety ng kalusugan ng iyong anak? Sa 2021 na lng mgresume ang mga klase. Mas mainam nang ligtas. Ang karunungan napagaaralan sa ibang panahon, ang buhay hindi.
