Public schools are being used as quarantine areas, report says


The Department of Education (DepEd) reported that at least four public schools in three regions are being used as isolation areas and quarantine areas for suspected cases of COVID-19.

Base on the partial report of DepEd four schools in Regions IV-A, IV-B, and CARAGA are being used as quarantine areas. In these four schools, 13 classrooms are being used as a quarantine area for 86 persons. Twenty-five of them are participants – learners, parents/guardians, teachers, and coaches.

Those under quarantine are participants of the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) held in Tuguegarao city, Cagayan and National Festival of Talents (NFOT) held in Ilagan City, Isabela. The activity was held last March 9 to 15.



The schools use as quarantine areas are under the divisions of Tayabas City, Oriental Mindoro, and Bayugan City.

Latest DepEd COVID-19 report shows,

  • Bayugan National Comprehensive High School in Agusan del Sur (CARAGA) 8 classroom, 44 individuals 25 are learners
  • Socorro Central in Oriental Mindoro (Region IV-A) 1 classroom, 26 individuals no learners
  • Quezon Science High School in Quezon (Region IV-B) 4 classrooms, unconfirmed number of individual
  • Bethel Elementary School in Oriental Mindoro (Region IV-B) dedicated evacuation center inside the shool, 16 individuals
