The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced a new plan to help improve the way Filipino students learn.
The plan is called the Quality Basic Education Development Plan or QBEDP. It will last for 10 years and aims to fix problems in the country’s education system.
DepEd said the goal is to make sure that no student is left behind. Education Secretary Sonny Angara said, “This plan is our promise. Every Filipino child deserves a good education and a better future.”
This new plan was made after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. promised during his State of the Nation Address to focus on improving education in the Philippines.
What’s in the Plan?
- Summer learning programs to help kids read and understand better
- Focus on three big things:
- Giving more power to local schools (decentralization)
- Using more technology in learning (digitalization)
- Working with private groups to help more students (partnerships)
Important Years:
- In 2028, 2031, and 2034, DepEd will check how the plan is working and make improvements.
The plan also looks at future challenges like technology changes, climate change, and the types of jobs students will need in the future.
DepEd hopes this plan will give better education and better chances in life for all Filipino students.
