Bamban Mayor Alice Guo Affirms Filipino Citizenship Amidst Identity Inquiries

As early as 2022, Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, made a clear statement about her identity amidst inquiries. During her proclamation rally on April 2, 2022, Guo emphasized her Filipino citizenship, revealing her roots and background.

“I am Alice Guo, from Barangay Virgen delos Remedios. My mother is Filipino. My father is Chinese,” Guo declared to the crowd.

She further affirmed, “I am a Filipino citizen with a heart for Bamban.”

Recent scrutiny arose during a Senate inquiry into alleged illegal activities at a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Bamban, casting doubt on Guo’s identity.

Senator Risa Hontiveros pointed out discrepancies between Guo’s birth certificate, which indicated her father’s Filipino nationality, and business records suggesting Chinese heritage.

According to Guo’s certificate of candidacy, she was born in 1986 in Tarlac, Tarlac, and has been a resident of Bamban since October 2021.

Arnold Patawaran, chairman of Barangay Virgen delos Remedios, recalled encountering Guo in 2005 and conversing with her in 2008 regarding property matters.

A Senate committee is investigating Guo’s alleged involvement in POGO activities. The raid in March linked to human trafficking and illegal detention uncovered evidence, including an electric bill and a vehicle registered under Guo’s name.

Despite attempts to contact her, Guo has not responded. However, she has consistently denied any association with the POGO’s illegal operations. Regarding the vehicle and electric bill, Guo stated that she had sold the vehicle, and the property’s ownership transfer might explain the billing discrepancy.
