Small class sizes are to be expected for the coming school opening to ensure the safety of students and teachers amid the coronavirus crisis, according to DepEd Director for ICT Abram Abanil. Classes will consist of about 15 to 20 students while children staying at home will be provided with instructional materials.
“Unang-una, ine-expect po natin na pagdating sa school opening natin ngayong pasukan, maliliit ‘yung class sizes natin, primarily dahil kailangan natin ‘yung strict social distancing measures. We expect na magkakaroon lang ng mga 15 to 20 students bawat klase pagdating nitong upcoming school opening,” DepEd Director Abram Abanil said.
This measure ensures the safety of students who will be entering the next school year 2020-2021. Strict social distancing is the new normal he said.
“Ang ibang mga bata, ine-expect natin na du’n lang sila sa bahay. Hindi naman sila nandu’n sa bahay para walang gawin, kailangan din silang mapagtuloy sa kanilang mga pag-aaral,” he added.
Children who will be staying at home will be given paper-based learning materials. This is to assure learning continues for them.
“Kaya magbibigay kami ng alternative modes of learning using technology, using paper-based activities para makapagpatuloy ng pag-aaral ang ating mga kabataan.” Abanil said.
