DepEd Statement on release of official uniform sets

The Department of Education (DepEd) issued a statement on the release of official uniform sets for SYs 2020-2022, as of March 7, 2020.

It came to our attention that there were pictures and videos circulating in social media announcing “the new sets of DepEd national uniform designs for Sys 2020-2022.”

The Department of Education would like to clarify that these “leaked” designs are NOT official. The DepEd Uniform Committee (DUC) will still present and recommend the shortlisted uniform sets to the Secretary and Executive Committee.

Nine of the 11 votes for the final and official uniform sets will be coming from our teachers, principals, and DepEd staff through the nine teaching and non-teaching accredited organizations, as per DM No. 17, s. 2020.

The FINAL and OFFICIAL DepEd national uniform designs and colors shall be OFFICIALLY announced through a DepEd issuance.

The issuance will be simultaneously released in time for the P6,000 clothing allowance for FY 2020. DepEd encourages its personnel to buy their preferred fabric/textile, in accordance with the prescribed design and color.

Further, the DUC also recommends the implementation of the new uniform policy in August or last quarter of the year to provide ample time for the purchase of clothing materials and sewing of the uniforms.

Lastly, we urge all DepEd personnel to practice good judgment in discerning reliable sources of news and updates pertaining to DepEd policies. (DepEd)

She said,

The DepEd Uniform Committee, through its Chairman and Vice-Chairman, is yet to present and recommend to our Sec LMB and to the ExeCom members the short-listed sets of uniforms for teaching and non-teaching positions for SYs 2020 to 2022. The short-list is a result of votes and deliberations of the DUC members where 11 out of 13 votes/voices are from the teachers, school heads, superintendents and directors from both the teaching and non-teaching accredited organisations (as indicated in the DepEd Memo issued for the purpose – https://www.deped.gov.ph/wp-cont…/…/2020/02/DM_s2020_017.pdf). Kaya majority po ng nag decide ay galing sa ating mga guro, principals, at deped staff.

The FINAL choice of DepEd national uniforms shall be OFFICIALLY announced through a DepEd issuance, in time for the release of the clothing allowance for FY 2020.

The pictures and videos of “supposed to be DepEd uniforms for SYs 2020 to 2022” circulating in social media are not from DepEd and are NOT official.

We urge all DepEd personnel to practice good judgment in discerning reliable sources of news and updates pertaining to DepEd policies.

We also reiterate the following:
1. The DepEd Issuance on the NEW Uniform will only indicate OFFICIAL DESIGN and COLOR.

2. DUC also recommended to start implementation of NEW Uniform policy sometime in August or last quarter of the year to provide ample time for the purchase of clothing materials and sewing of the uniforms. This will also be raised to execom for consideration.

2. 2020 clothing allowance will be given in CASH to employees and they are encouraged to decide and BUY which fabric/textile they want in accordance with prescribed design and color.
