DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Department of Education (DepEd) celebrated their successful partnership during the Mindanao leg of the 2024 National Career Expo (NCEx) this past weekend. Held from May 23 to 25 at the Sunny Point Hotel in Davao City, the event saw active participation from approximately 1,500 Grade 10 and senior high school students across the region.
This collaborative effort between DOLE and DepEd aimed to provide students with valuable insights into various career paths and employment opportunities. The expo, convened by DepEd-Davao Region and co-led by a consortium of key agencies, showcased the strengths of inter-agency cooperation in supporting student career development.
The event featured interactive sessions, panel discussions, and exhibit tours, with representatives from DOLE, DepEd, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the Public Employment Service Office of Davao City (PESO-Davao City) sharing their expertise. Topics covered included skills development, emerging job markets, and the importance of aligning educational pathways with future career goals.
The successful partnership between DOLE and DepEd at the NCEx underscores the vital role of collaborative efforts in enhancing students’ career readiness and ensuring they are well-prepared for the future.
