GCash to Merchants: No More E-Gambling Promos

  • by

GCash, the popular e-wallet app, is now stopping online gambling ads on its platform. The new rule started today, July 16, 2025.

In a letter to its partner stores, GCash said it wants to promote safe and responsible gaming. It will now limit how gambling ads are shown on its GLife marketplace — this includes banners, pop-ups, and other visuals users click.

GCash said these changes are to follow the law and protect users from the risks of online gambling.

Some church leaders and lawmakers have already spoken out against online gambling, saying it can lead to addiction and financial problems for families.

What will change:

  • No more online gambling ads on GLife
  • Stronger security checks when users click on gambling promos
  • Removal of gambling ads like billboards and TV commercials (Pagcor order)

GCash is also part of FinTech Alliance PH, which is asking the government to make stricter rules for online gaming and ban illegal gambling sites.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is now working on new rules that may limit how e-wallets like GCash are used for gambling.

GCash said, “We’re doing this to protect users and stay within the rules.”
