A tragic incident unfolded in Paris on Monday, leaving a newborn baby dead after being thrown from a hotel window by its 18-year-old American mother. The infant, still attached to its umbilical cord, was discovered outside a hotel in the 20th arrondissement.
Emergency responders rushed the baby to Robert Debre hospital, but despite their efforts, the child was pronounced dead at 7:45 am (0645 GMT). A police source confirmed the details, stating that the mother, an American student traveling in Europe with a group of peers, had given birth in her second-floor hotel room before fatally discarding her child.
The prosecutor’s office has launched a murder investigation and the young woman is currently in custody. While receiving medical attention following the delivery, she will face questioning regarding the circumstances surrounding this horrific event. Reports indicate the trip was a study abroad program for students from the United States. The investigation is ongoing.
