Public School Teachers to Receive Pay for Overload and Overtime — President Marcos

  • by

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. assured public school teachers that they will soon be compensated for their teaching overload and overtime work, acknowledging their vital role in ensuring quality education for Filipino students.

In his recent message to educators, the President said:
“Makakatanggap na kayo ng kabayaran para sa inyong teaching overload at overtime.”

This move is part of the government’s broader efforts to uplift the education sector and recognize the hard work of public school teachers, many of whom are burdened with large class sizes, extra tasks, and long teaching hours beyond their regular load.

The Department of Education (DepEd) is expected to coordinate with other concerned agencies to ensure that funds and mechanisms for this compensation are properly implemented.

Teacher groups have long called for fair remuneration for additional work, especially amid reports of educators doing administrative tasks and working beyond regular hours without proper pay.

President Marcos’ announcement is seen as a positive step toward addressing their concerns and supporting the overall goal of improving the country’s education system.
