Teachers are not required to report in school from April 6, 2019 to June 2, 2019. Teachers who will attend school activities are entitled to service credit.
(Legal Basis: On PVP Rule XVI of the Omnibus Civil Service Rules, Sec. 6)
SEC. 6. Teachers’ Leave. – Teachers shall not be entitled to the usual vacation and sick leave credits but to proportional vacation pay (PVP) of 70 days of summer vacation plus 14 days of Christmas vacation. A teacher who has rendered continuous service in a school year without incurring absences without pay of not more than 1 ½ days is entitled to 84 days of proportional vacation pay
DepEd also made it clear that there is really no enrollment this year (referring to school year break), as the students are automatically enrolled that is why teachers are encouraged to post the list of the names of students during the ‘Brigada Eskwela’ period.
Regarding the scheduling of enrollment period, teachers also are not required because there’s no enrollment period included in our calendar. “Wala naman talagang schedule of enrollment ngayong summer. Tingnan niyo ang School Calendar natin. “
However, in the exigency of public service, teachers may be required to report and render services which shall be compensated with the equivalent vacation service credits, as per DO No. 53, s 2003.
Note that request to require the attendance of public school teachers during the said period must satisfy the following conditions: A letter-request is submitted by the school head to the Schools Division Office. Sufficient justification is provided to establish that exigency of public service exists.
The request is duly approved by the Schools Division Superintendent (SDS)
