Thorough and Immediate Inspection of School and Office Buildings and Facilities
In view of the recent magnitude 6.1 earthquake that hit Luzon this afternoon and as per instruction from Executive Salvador Medialdea and Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones, all principals, school heads and teachers-in-charge are hereby instructed to undertake thorough investigation of all school buildings and facilities before allowing learners, teachers and personnel to enter the same.
All engineers and architects and DRRM coordinators at the central, regional and division offices are hereby instructed to lend support to all concerned in the determination of the structural integrity and safety of buildings and facilities in DepEd schools and offices within 250 km from Castillejos, Zambales, the epicenter of the earthquake.
Regional Directors, Schools Divison Superintendents, ESSD and SGOD Chiefs, the Education Facilities Division (EFD), the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Service (DRRMS) and all concerned are hereby enjoined to immediately cascade this instruction up to the school level for immediate implementation starting at 5:00 am of April 23, 2019.
Only when the structural integrity and safety of buildings and facilities is assured can the learners, teacher and personnel be allowed to enter the same.
