A video of a 5-year-old boy went viral on social media where he was seen crying over difficulties in writing his supposedly long name.
The boy, Drayven Thomas Valdez, was seen crying and complaining to his parents over his name, saying he was having trouble writing it all down. The video was posted online by his father.
“Gusto ko na bawasan pangalan ko,” the little boy said in the video.
(I want to shorten my name.)

He even asked his parents to change his name to “Boy Valdez,” saying it would be easier to write down that “Drayven Thomas Valdez.”
“Gusto ko Boy Valdez. Mas madali na isulat ang Boy tapos Valdez. Oh madali lang ’yon,” the kid said.
(I want to go by Boy Valdez. Boy and Valdez are easier to write.)
The boy was crying since he needs to write his full name on his worksheets. Students in the Philippines are currently studying via distance learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

His father, Ray Jay Valdez, however explained that prior to writing his name down, the child was already writing numbers from 1 to 100 and his hands might have been tired alread.
“He wrote the numbers from 1 to 100 bago pinasulat sa kanya ‘yung name niya. Kaya po umiiyak yung bata dahil pagod na ‘yung kamay. This video was not posted to harm the child in any way,” the child’s father said.
