A heartbreaking incident occurred in Barangay Alitaya, Mangaldan, Pangasinan, where a 23-year-old man, identified as Serafica de Leon, lost his life after being fatally stabbed by his own father.
Serafica de Leon, the victim, succumbed to the injuries inflicted by multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
In a devastating twist, the father also suffered critical injuries, including a severe head injury caused by a rock.
According to the police investigation, both the father and son were intoxicated at the time of the tragic event, potentially exacerbating the disagreement.
“It is likely that the excessive alcohol consumption by the father and son escalated the situation, turning a minor dispute into a fatal confrontation,” commented PLTCOL. Roldan Cabatan, Chief of Mangaldan Police Station.
Merlita de Leon, the mother of the victim, expressed her determination to seek justice for her son by pursuing legal action against her husband.
“Why did this happen? I will seek justice for his murder,” emotionally stated De Leon.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) is actively pursuing the investigation to uncover the truth behind the tragic incident.
“We are still searching for additional witnesses to fully understand what transpired,” Cabatan mentioned.
Authorities emphasize the importance of resolving conflicts through dialogue to prevent escalation into violence and tragedy.
