DepEd Urges Simple, Meaningful Year-End Celebrations.

In a recent statement, the Department of Education (DepEd) reiterated its call for schools to keep the upcoming end-of-school-year activities straightforward yet significant. Assistant Secretary and Deputy Spokesperson Francis Cesar Bringas stressed the importance of ensuring that events like moving-up exercises and graduation remain meaningful without unnecessary extravagance.

DepEd had previously issued guidelines for the End-of-School-Year Rites (EOSY) for the 2023–2024 academic year, emphasizing the need for simplicity. One key aspect highlighted was the implementation of the “No-Collection” policy to relieve parents of any financial burdens associated with these events. Bringas emphasized that contributions from learners or parents should not be solicited, as expenses are already covered by schools’ operating budgets.

Moreover, considering the scorching weather conditions experienced nationwide, DepEd advised schools to conduct year-end activities indoors whenever possible. This adjustment aims to ensure the safety and comfort of everyone involved, including students, parents, and school staff. For schools with limited indoor space, suggestions were made to organize activities in batches or adjust schedules to avoid the hottest parts of the day.
