DepEd: No need to go to schools for June 1 enrollment

The Department of Education (DepEd) reminded parents that they should not rush to schools on Monday, June 1, to enroll their children.

DepEd has asked schools to contact students on how to go about the enrollment in light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Education Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan said.

“Do not go to school on June 1…Wait for the call,” he told DZMM in an interview.

“On Monday they do not need to go to schools. They will wait in their homes,” he added.

DepEd Undersecretary Jesus Mateo said schools would implement “remote enrollment” for students.

Class advisers will contact parents to have their children listed for the upcoming school year, he said.

Malacañang earlier announced that enrollment for school year 2020 to 2021 will proceed on Monday, June 1 after President Rodrigo Duterte threw his support for the reopening of classes on Aug. 24.

“Enrollment will proceed because whether it be face-to-face or blended, you have to enroll your children because there has to be a basis for assessing whether or not after one year your children will progress to the next level,” Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said.

Both the DepEd and Malacañang had informed the public that physical or face-to-face classes would be prohibited if community quarantines are still in effect by Aug. 24.

The DepEd had said it would use “blended learning” for the reopening of classes—using printed modules that can be picked up by parents, and online resources.

Television and radio-based instructions are also being eyed as modes of learning, the DepEd had said.

I can not find any learning materials/workbook for all subjects for Grade 7 to 12. And for the writing workbook for grade 2 cursive and Filipino Subject Grade 2 don’t have. Thank you.
