DepEd: Schools can decide on graduation rites amid COVID-19

The Department of Education (DepEd) said it will be allowing schools to decide whether to reschedule graduation and moving up ceremonies afer the community quarantines.

Graduation rites scheduled for April 3 according to the school calendar have been already canceled amid the (enhanced) community quarantines implemented in most parts of the country due to COVID-19.

“Sa graduation rites, hindi na natin itutuloy ng April 3, alam naman po natin ang sitwasyon. Pwedeng pong i-reschedule at pwede ring pong hindi na ituloy or i-forgo, kailangan lamang pong ikonsulta sa mga magulang,” Sevilla said in a televised briefing on PTV.

“Sila po ay magko-konsulta depende po sa magiging lagay ng ating public health situation… ito po ay kailangan po nating ikonsulta sa mga magulang.” She added.

To date, PH has 803 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 54 deaths and 31 have recovered.
