A viral video from the Kapalong College of Technology’s graduation ceremony has sparked outrage online. The clip shows graduates performing inappropriate dance moves on stage after receiving their diplomas.
The video, which surfaced over the weekend, quickly spread online, attracting criticism from both ordinary netizens and public figures. Many pointed to the Department of Education’s (DepEd) policy that graduation ceremonies should be conducted with “solemnity and dignity,” as stated in Department Order No. 25 from 2017.
Politician Rizalito David questioned the education the graduates received, implying they lacked proper decorum. Others criticized the dance as unsuitable for such a formal event and noted the misspelling of the college’s name during the ceremony.
Blame was directed at the school management for allowing such behavior, with calls for DepEd to investigate the school and consider its closure. Some attribute the behavior to the influence of smartphones on the younger generation.
Overall, the incident has raised concerns about the conduct of younger people and their respect for traditional ceremonies.
